Equality before law is well defined under the Article 14 of the Constitution which ensures that every citizen shall be likewise protected by the laws of the country. It means that the State will not distinguish any of the Indian citizens on the basis of their gender, caste, creed, religion or even the place of birth. A youth slapped Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, while he was riding in an open jeep in full public view in panipat during a visit to lay foundation stone for some projects on Sunday. The youth was take in custody immediately.
The youth identified as Kamal Mukhija broke the security ring and slapped the Chief Minister. The youth was immediately detained and case has been registered against him under various section of the IPC.
In an another instance the hill state's new CM Harish Rawat on Saturday, slapped an over enthusiastic 25-year-old party worker who wouldn't stop shouting "Harish Rawat zindabad". This incident was quickly captured by the surrounding TV cameras.
Harish Rawat, then went to CLP meeting and was anointed as Uttarakhand's 8th CM.
